Custom-domain email right inside Gmail — no Google Workspace needed.
Built for freelancers and small teams who want a professional [email protected] address but don't want to pay for and administer Google Workspace just to send mail.
The hard problem is twofold: let people send and receive from their domain without leaving the Gmail they already live in, and get the DNS and authentication right so that mail actually lands in the inbox instead of spam.
The tempting move is to ship a slick standalone webmail. I didn't. Custom-domain email only matters if people actually use it, and the inbox they already trust is Gmail — so SendMailAs plugs into it rather than asking anyone to migrate.
The cost is real: I'm bound by Gmail's APIs and limits and can't own the whole experience. The payoff is zero learning curve and instant adoption — you compose from your domain in the exact UI you used yesterday.
SPF, DKIM and DMARC are where custom email usually dies — one wrong TXT record and everything silently goes to spam. SendMailAs generates and verifies the records for you, so setup is about five minutes instead of an afternoon of guessing why mail bounces.
The product removes the two reasons people avoid custom-domain email entirely: the Google Workspace bill and the deliverability headache. You keep Gmail, you keep your domain, and mail just works.
